History
Truenorthlogic was founded in 2000 as iAssessment, a customizable assessment engine for teachers to self-assess against a technology teaching rubric followed by recommended professional growth tied to their specific, individual level of understanding.
“We wanted to create a company that was founded on the idea of helping teachers grow in their career and their ability to teach in this ever-changing, fast-paced technological environment,” says co-founder Jeanette Haren.
The Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) grant was created to address the challenge of getting technology into the classroom and helped to foster the company’s first contract with the California Department of Education. Truenorthlogic created a solution to assess California teachers’ technology understanding and measured the overall success of implementing technology programs using EETT funds.
By 2004, the company had outgrown its roots with an expanded focus on professional development management, mentoring and program management. The business was renamed Truenorthlogic to better reflect the company’s expanded vision.
“We felt that the name Truenorthlogic better represented our mission to help educators find direction in building their careers and best serving their schools and students, thus came the ‘true north.’ ‘Logic’ represents how we provide that direction and support through technology as a software company,” explains Haren.
In the beginning, values were established to define the company and sticking to these values has helped the company grow while maintaining its focus:

Truenorthlogic has matured, throughout the past 10 years, not only in its technology and product suite offering, but also by adding professional services, training, and sales and marketing teams. Truenorthlogic has touched over 1,000,000 educators and serviced over 40,000 professional development courses.
“Truenorthlogic has evolved; our solutions are designed to be easily configured and quickly implemented to launch new client systems easily and cost-effectively,” says Haren. “We help bring clients into the 21st century with our product solutions aimed at bringing an effective educator to every student.”
